Project: Rainbow Centre, Basildon, Essex
Client: Essex County Council
Brief:
To demolish the existing canopy and entrance ramp and create a new, secure reception area with disabled access and parking at this specialist education centre.
Key Issues:
The existing canopy had to be carefully removed and the access ramp demolished and renewed in line with the latest building regulations. A secure reception/waiting room was required incorporating a specialised self-opening entrance door providing improved disabled access. The security of the children and staff at this specialist centre, both during and after the building work, was of paramount importance.
The Result:
A new purpose built reception area with good seating and improved security for children and staff. The new, extended ramp has mesh panels and upstands to facilitate wheelchair use and additional parking facilities, including a disabled parking bay have been provided.
