Project:
Replacement of existing roof coverings and associated works.
Location:
Dame Alice Owen School, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire
Contract Period:
18 weeks
Value:
£350,000

Brief:

Works included stripping existing coverings, infilling redundant roof lights and making good of structural decking. Reinstatement work included high performance felt roof coverings, replacement roof lights and drainage. Internal works included adaptations to existing suspended ceilings and alterations to services. Provision of Brise Soleil and Trespa replacement panels to part of one elevation.

Key Issues:

A large part of the works had to take place while the School was fully occupied.

Deliveries had to be organised at pre-determined times outside the busy arrival and departure times for staff and pupils.

We organised daily meetings between the site team and the school to monitor the works, so the school could be kept operational at all times.

Outcome:

The School has a guaranteed roof covering with permanent guardrails to the perimeter and the new roof lights have increased the amount of daylight to the rooms below.
